The open-winged angel flies above the altar of the San Ignacio church in the Chiquitania region of Bolivia. This angel is a replica of the original, using the original carving techniques and natural ochre paints. The church dates from the 18th century, when the Jesuits set up a system of missions in the tropical eastern lowlands and brought Baroque styles, which the local people adapted into a unique mestizo aesthetic. Signed by the artist on the back. Includes hook.
