August 9, 2007 - $2000 Donated to the Bolivian System of Youth Choruses and Orchestras (SICOR)
SICOR is a network of 18 youth orchestras in the city and the countryside throughout the tropics of Bolivia. This week we donated $2000 to them and brought them a violin and music (generously donated by Jennifer Leland).

SICOR has changed the lives of hundreds of at-risk kids through its innovative music education programs, and it needs your help! If you know of a US organization that would like to sponsor students, provide instruments, or donate funds, please let us know. Now featuring the jewelry designs of Claudia Mercado

Claudia Mercado is a talented Bolivian jewelry designer who draws from traditional Bolivian themes to create modern jewelry designs. Salvatierra Donates Violin and Cello Strings to SICOR

Salvatierra Imports donated $600 worth of violin and cello strings to the student musicians of SICOR, the System of Choruses and Orchestras in Bolivia. "These strings are excellent quality, exactly what we need!" commented Ruben Dario Suarez, SICOR's director.

2006 International American Renaissance and Baroque Music Festival "Misiones de Chiquitos" was a great success.

This series of concerts was held in the historic Jesuit Mission Churches. Forty-five groups from twenty countries performed over one hundred concerts, most of them free of charge. “Visitors had a chance to go back in history,” says Maria Parejas of Asociación Pro Arte y Cultura, the organizer of the event. “The groups played music from the 18th century in the original churches where the pieces were written.”
