Zarate Claudia Mercado We support the artists and culture of the tropics of Bolivia by bring the best and most unusual art and handicrafts to the United States. We work directly with the artists and artisan cooperatives to ensure that they benefit fairly. Sometimes we have to go to great lengths. We have carried kilos of kilos of thread by bicycle, crossing rivers in dugout canoe to bring the women of Salvatierra their raw materials and return with their hammocks. We have logged thousands of kilometers on unpaved, muddy roads to reach the woodworking workshops in the Chiquitania. So, when you hold an item from Salvatierra Imports, it not only has a story to tell of the culture and artistry of the person who made it, but it has its own adventure of how it came to your hands.
